Hello!

My name is Tom Attwater, and I’m co-directing a short documentary film called Prairiewood, alongside Alaskan photographer Nathaniel Wilder. Our film will highlight the urgent efforts to secure Prairiewood as a publicly accessible refuge.

The Tallgrass Prairie is one of North America’s most endangered ecosystems. Once stretching from Texas to Canada, less than 4% of it remains today. At the heart of Kansas’ Flint Hills, Kail and Beck Katzenmeier have spent decades restoring and protecting a rare sanctuary of untouched prairie. Their fight is not just about conservation; it’s about securing a future where this landscape remains wild and accessible for generations to come.
